🚨 Cybertruck (2025) – 1 year later, real world review 🚨

Exactly one year ago I took delivery of my Tesla Cybertruck (dual motor, Foundation series) from the Austin factory. I've been keeping a detailed log of every metric: range, charging, maintenance, software updates, and the infamous wiper performance.

No hype, just facts. I wanted to see if this truck lives up to the promise.

✅ What exceeded expectations: off-road capability, adaptive air suspension, and the sheer presence. The torque is instant and the steering is surprisingly tight.
⚠️ What was meh: the tonneau cover started sticking at month 8, and the range in winter dropped ~18% (expected but still noticeable).
🔋 total cost per mile: $0.04 (home charging) – unbeatable compared to gas.

I'll share my full spreadsheet later. But overall, the Cybertruck is a game-changer. If you're on the fence, just do it. But get the range extender if you tow.

Great write-up, Sam! I've got a Cybertruck in my fleet (we use it for light towing) and I can confirm the range drop. But the torque is insane – we pulled a 7,000 lb trailer up a grade and it didn't even flinch.

Curious about your FSD (Full Self Driving) experience – I've had mixed results with v12.5. It's good on highways but still hesitates in city traffic.

Also, how's the stainless steel holding up? I've seen some fingerprints but nothing major. I've heard ceramic coating helps.

"real world data" – I love this approach. I did the same with my Model S Plaid. It's so important to separate hype from reality.

For the Cybertruck, I test drove one and was blown away by the steering (rear-wheel steer is magic). But the wiper is indeed a meme – have you tried the aftermarket wiper upgrade? I heard it helps a lot.

Also, Tesla just pushed an update that improves cold weather charging. Did you notice any difference in battery preconditioning?

+1 on the spreadsheet – we need more data-driven EV content.

Sam, thank you for this real world review. I'm considering a Cybertruck for my construction business (light hauling). The 18% winter drop is acceptable, but I'm curious about the V2L (vehicle-to-load) – have you used it to power tools?

Also, any issues with the 48V architecture? I heard some accessories don't play nice yet, but I think the ecosystem is growing.

Keep the updates coming. This is the kind of content electricforum.site needs.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. To answer a few questions:

FSD: v12.5 is much better, but still not perfect. Highway is solid, city streets are "confident but cautious". I'd say it's 85% there.

Stainless steel: holds up well, but shows fingerprints – I keep a microfiber cloth in the frunk. 🧼

V2L: yes, I've used it to run a saw and a compressor. It works flawlessly – 240V outlet in the bed is a game changer.

I'll share the full "real world" spreadsheet in a follow-up. Stay tuned!
